Jenny, this is exactly what I see play out in so many women’s bodies: the moment discomfort shows up, their nervous system scrambles to shut it down, and in the process they never get the information, clarity, or power that was hiding inside that sensation.
I love how you name sitting with discomfort as a way of training the brainstem to recognize “I can feel this and still survive,” because that is literally the shift I help women make in my work too — from treating every spike of feeling as danger to letting their physiology expand around it, so their next decision comes from capacity instead of avoidance.
It’s something I’m actively working on and learning myself… for me it’s mostly recognizing that not all discomfort is a signal to act. Sometimes it’s just a signal to sit. And the only way to know the difference is to give yourself enough space to actually feel it first.

Yes. Spot on! I talk about this in my "Habit of Holding On" post. Such magic can happen when we step outside of our comfort zone. ✨️
So true! Going to check out that post! 🏃♀️

This piece holds such weighty truth! I'm so curious what brought you to write it. 🙂

Thank YOU for your insight!
A daily short meditation, in my case 22 minutes, helps you navigate through the discomfort.
Such a meaningful practice!
